Geotextile

Overview

Geotextile

Geotextile is a synthetic fabric with high durability, water permeability, large but light weight. It is commonly used in environmental, civil engineering, agriculture, and landscape improvement.

The materials used for geotextile are mostly polyester (PET) or polypropylene (PP), there are two types of processes that commonly produce geotextile which are:

1. Woven Geotextile
2. Non-woven Geotextile - with the production process of the needle punching,

it is capable of high tensile strength, high elasticity, and good for water and gas drainage.

The Function of Geotextile:

1. Filtering Because water is permeable, geotextile is used in filtration, such as filtering the soil from passing to other areas, while water and moisture can also pass through.
2. Separation Geotextile is often used to separate between two things, such as rock and soil layers, or soil layers of different characteristics, etc.
3. Drainage Geotextile is also used in water or gas drainage, often in combination with other accessories such as the drainage core or the perforated pipe.
4. Protection Geotextile is also used to protect other materials such as HDPE geomembrane or concrete.
5. Reinforcement Strengthening other things such as soil, by increasing the load capacity or by absorbing friction at the point where friction is applied.
